Obsessional thinking

Hi Steve Norton anxiety specialist here. What I want to talk about today is obsessional thinking. Do you suffer from obsessional thinking? Let’s find out!

What is obsessional thinking?

What I want to talk about today is obsessional thinking. Do you suffer from obsessional thinking? So the last 18 months since the pandemic, I’ve seen a massive rise with people contacting me and working with me with obsessional thinking. And it is obviously part of the OCD family, but I’ll give you some examples of some things that people obsess about these days.

Health anxiety, obsessing that that they’ve got an illness, when they don’t have one, is one of the massive major things that I deal with every day.

It’s also very common to obsess over being too healthy. You can actually obsess over your fitness levels, obsess about the gym, obsess about how many times you work out, or don’t work out. There are so many different things to obsess about. Your food, what you should and shouldn’t eat. It never ever ends, and with all these obsessions. You can move from one obsession to the next.

OCD and obsessive thinking

So one obsession dies out and is replaced by another one. All OCD like behaviour is created by an underlying anxiety, at some level of something not quite right with your life.

Either. What’s going on your life, OR the way you run your mind.

So obsessional behaviour is definitely on the increase and it’s hardly surprising. After what we’ve all been through in the last 18 months. But there is a treatment for it, and I call it Thought Retraining. So this is what I teach all my clients when they join my online program, it’s all covered in that.

So basically obsessional thinking can be reversed. With the same process that you created it. We can reverse it, because you can actually get obsessional about changing this, and changing the processes of your brain. I find when people with OCD tendencies very easy to work with because they always do things diligently.

They never forget. So if you’re struggling at the moment with obsessional tendencies, no matter what it is, how you look, how much you weigh, whatever it is, understanding that at the bottom of it. In most most cases, there is anxiety there that’s underpinning all of that. So if you need some help with that get in touch.

Certainly have a look at my online rapid anxiety elimination program, which really is good for people who have got little time for appointments, and they want to get on with it straight away.

They don’t want to wait for a week for appointments that they just want to come straight onto and start to learn the thought retraining process so I hope that makes sense. And if that’s you, it can be changed, you can reverse it. Keep believing, and I’ll see you again soon for another video.

Do you have anxiety and don’t realise it

Do you have anxiety without even realising it? Can you relate to some of the following symptoms? A lot of people don’t even realise they’ve actually got anxiety because people with anxiety tend to have very similar ways of thinking.

So let’s run through some Anxiety traits and see if these resonate with you.

Paranoia. Do you feel like people are talking about you. Do you think that people are saying things behind your back. Do you feel as if people are plotting against you, saying nasty things all the time, if that was what you do, that is an anxiety trait

People pleasing. Always wanting to people, always wanting people to say thank you, always wanting to help people all the time, and you feel as if like, if you don’t do it for them, something will go wrong in their lives. So you feel as if almost as if you are responsible for their lives. If that sounds like you. That’s an anxiety trait.

Perfectionism. Are you a perfectionist? Do you want everything to be perfect? And even when it’s done you’re very self critical about your work or what you’ve done. And you always think critically about any work you’ve done. Picking fault with it thinking it could have been better. If so, That is it an anxiety trait.

There are so many anxiety traits that people don’t even realise, are part of the anxiety family. Especially when you start adding these things up. Lets say for instance you’re doing three of those things, you will be an anxious person. When we look at, anxiety, and the mechanics of it, generally, most people with anxiety, are doing the same things in their heads.

They’re creating the same results. I call it swimming with a shoal, the shoal of fishes. All people with anxiety do roughly the same sort of thinking patterns in the heads. And when we look at people who are happy, they’re not using those patterns.

How happy people think

They don’t think like that, they’re not paranoid and don’t feel as if they’re responsible for the world. They’re not overly critical, and all those other things. So what I do my anxiety programme is I’m basically teaching people how to change shoals.

So instead of following the shoal of anxiety people and doing what anxious people do and how they think, I teach people how happy people think. Because there’s a different way that happy people think, compared to how anxious people think.

So if that sounds interesting, and you want to know more about it, you can book consultation with me. And as always, subscribe to this YouTube channel, and I’ll be getting new videos out every single week. So have a great day, and hope to hear from you soon. Bye for now.

Health Anxiety

Hi Steve Norton anxiety specialist here. And what I’m going to talk about today is health anxiety, what it is and how you can change it. The first thing to understand about health anxiety is, it is an obsession.

Health anxiety and OCD

Health Anxiety is from the OCD family and how it starts as when that person has some sort of illness or discomfort, some sort of sensation in the body, rather than just passing it off as that sensation or not feeling very well. That person then starts to dig. They start digging online, they go into Google, and before they know it. This then start believing that they’ve got cancer, or some other serious illness like that.

And what then happens this is the spiral into decline. When that person then starts to worry to the point where the symptoms get even worse, then they end up going to see the doctor. The doctor gives them a thorough examination, and generally comes back and says “Look, you’ve got nothing wrong with you”, and that that person goes home feeling a little bit of relief from that.

But only temporarily, because they then start going online and start looking at medical  misdiagnosis. They find stories whereby people who have been told by doctors that they’re fit and healthy and they turned out they haven’t been fine. They they start thinking “Maybe the doctor got it wrong”.

Doctor Google!

And they’ll start digging even further on Google. That becomes an absolute obsession where the person actually makes themselves ill and exacerbates any symptom. While the very fact that that they are focusing so much on that symptom. They can almost create new symptoms and new sensations, because what they’re really doing is asking their mind to almost produce, how a more serious symptom might feel.

So that person then spirals into even worse, anxiety levels, because then start research even further.

Typical character traits of people with Health Anxiety

Disbelieving their own doctor and going for private checks can follow. Nothing ever satisfies the obsession. It doesn’t matter who tells them, I’ve had clients who have literally spent 1000s of pounds going to see different doctors. Doctors from Harley Street, you name it all over the all over the world, getting checked out and whenever a doctor says to them and says, you’re perfectly fine. It only ever seems to have like a very short lived effect on that person.

And then the very next day, they start going back into Google, again, going on forums, almost convincing themselves that there really is something wrong with them. At this point it becomes really difficult for anyone that’s with these people living with them partners. It just gets a little bit out of control. So no amount of evidence will ever help the anxiety sufferer, if they believe they’ve got some sort of health ailment.

No amount of professionals telling them that they’re all fine, and I’ve actually seen people who’ve genuinely made themselves ill with health anxiety. I’ve actually read symptoms appear, probably due to the fact that they’ve got that much adrenaline and cortisol flying on their bodies so they end up getting real genuine stomach problems acid problems and palpitations of the heart.

Thought Retraining

So that’s pretty much what health anxiety is, it is an obsession. It is an obsessional behaviour, used to be called hypochondria years ago. But the question you might be wondering is, is there anything I can do about it? Well, absolutely, yes there is. The first thing you need to do is understand that you’ve got this obsession that it is not an illness, what you’ve got, you’ve actually got an obsession an OCD style obsession.

Now the only way we can break this is by first of all, stop going on Google. Stop googling symptoms, and you will start changing your focus away from your health, because the more you start to focus on it, the more you’re asking your body to create sensations and refocus yourself on something else. Now, it can be quite stubborn to remove.

So my probably best advice for you would be to actually get some professional help from someone like myself who can, who specialises in removing health anxiety, and yes it does, it takes some effort to do it it’s it’s quite a stupid little pocket to get rid of health anxiety, but you can do it. And one of the reasons people cheap space because they use a technique called Thought retraining.

To summarise

And what thought retraining does, it is a technique of help stop and block the thoughts that cause the health anxiety in the first place. And if you practice the health anxiety protocol which is what I teach to my clients, you can generally get rid of health anxiety pretty quick. But like everything in life, it does have to be worked out, it needs to be practised.

So it isn’t something that has to be with you all the time. It is something that you can reverse, reverse the obsession with the right help, so if you’d like to know any more about that, you can either get in touch with me, or you can actually help with health anxiety or my new Rapid anxiety elimination programme, and that will give you the full step by step guide of how to remove health anxiety. So I hope that helps and I hope that gives you a little bit of hope that it doesn’t have to be a permanent thing.

Cocaine addiction

Hi Steve Norton anxiety specialist here, I’m getting a lot more calls these days regarding cocaine addiction. What a lot of people don’t realise is when they’re taking cocaine is that the average cocaine, especially on Teesside area contains 5% cocaine.

What is inside cocaine?

So you got to ask yourself, what is the other 95%. Let’s face it if you’re putting your faith in a drug dealer! And what’s the chance that they’ll be putting something, fairly intelligent in there?

All they care about is money. All they care about is making more money out of you, they don’t care about what they’re putting in the wrap. You’re just an idiot to them, who’s spending all that money on cocaine.

And now, especially now the pubs are open people are probably doing more and more. But I guess before that we’re doing in the homes and stuff and it seems quite an innocent thing people don’t often think of themselves as having a problem with cocaine because I think  I only do it on the weekend.

I only do on the weekend so I don’t really have a problem! But what you got to really think to yourself, is this what is contained inside of it. Think of it from the drug dealers point of view, what would you put in that?

What could the real ingredients of cocaine be?

What would you do if you were the dealer? You just put in anything that would try to mimic it anything that would give you that sort of like tingly feeling. Some of the ingredients are rat poison, under the sink cleaning products. You’ve also got to think about that, that’s gone into your bloodstream, it’s also gone in your brain. So all that stuff is actually going around your brain.

So, I wonder what the long term consequences of that will be? Best of all, the consequences to your family, your friends, because it’s never just a simple thing of doing a little bit of a bit of coke on the weekend. It ends up on on a Wednesday night, then it ends up on a Thursday or Friday night, and before you know it, you’re doing it every day.

And you’ve really got to think about the consequences of that, because I get people phone me, and they’ve lost everything, they’ve lost the jobs, their wives, their children, everything they’ve just lost it due to cocaine addiction.

It’s just a bit of fun isn’t it?

And it all started out just having a little bit of coke on a weekend, and nothing, nothing too serious. And yes its mostly the boys, yeah I’m not saying that women don’t do it. Women clearly do it. But by far the amount of people that do it its men, men with a lot of money in the pockets too. Offshore workers, people have got a lot of time on their hands are the usual culprits.

People just never had money that they have today and yet on the weekend I think it’s part of that party thing and do a little bit of coke here and there but it will only lead to your downfall. These people are pretend to be your friends who offer you a little bit of coke, they’re not your friends, those people in your life actually your enemies.

They’re going to take away everything that you love in your life, that you are risking every single thing here, your relationship, your children, your job, your health, your mental health and for what? Sticking a bit of white powder up your nose!

Know your enemies

So anyone who tries to persuade you and tell you it’s okay just have a little bit of coke on the weekend, is not your friend. That’s actually your enemy, and you need to get the hell away from those people, because it will get out of hand, I will guarantee it and I get people who phone me but it’s gone beyond my help.

I can’t help them anymore because they’ve gone too far into it, they’ve lost everything they’ve had. They had nice cars, nice houses and everything and now they’ve got nothing. but just this living just nothing anymore now just mentally they’re, they’re absolutely terrible step. So think about that the next time someone offers you some cork, that little bit of innocent cork, they’ll get a sniff here and there, it isn’t innocent, it will lead to your downfall.

The solution

So don’t even start it, you don’t need it, if they need it, that’s fine, that’s their business. But that’s nothing to do with you, and you really need to look at the company that you keep, because if the company that you keep are all doing that on the weekend, you need to stay well well away from them because they will drag you down with them.

They don’t care. They want you to be done with them, but be smart, think about this. Think about how many people that you know, even celebrities who have been hooked on cocaine and stuff, and you know and that was probably the real stuff. God knows what the stuff is that you’ve tried. You can use only imagine what it must be.

So, think smart put your family self first and yourself first, and, and just say no to that cocaine addiction because it is the way to ruin. So I hope that makes sense, and have a fantastic day. I’ll see you again soon for another video. Don’t forget to subscribe to my channel. Bye for now.

Why is anxiety worse at night

Hi Steve Norton anxiety specialist here. One of the questions I get asked all the time is, why does anxiety happen at certain times of the day? Why does that tend to happen more daytime or night time? Now, to answer that properly, you’ve really got to understand, what I call the power of suggestion.

How anxiety is created

In fact, what you tell yourself is lining up the future anxiety. So quite often people say to me every morning when I wake up my anxiety is terrible. It’s bad first thing, and then as it goes on through the day. It then starts to diminish and by later on it’s all gone.

What they don’t realise when they say things like that is that they’re actually lining it up in their mind and almost ordering it through the very language that they speak. Now I know that might sound quite outrageous to someone who’s not in the psychological field like I am. This is absolutely true though, your own language patterns are actually planning and lining up your future anxiety.

So when people say to me “why is my anxiety terrible at night, why is it terrible in the morning”? They tell me, hour by hour about how it changes throughout the day. They don’t realise that they’re actually planning, and using that hypnotic suggestion on themselves.

How anxiety becomes programmed

And people often say to me “my anxiety is terrible at night, that’s why I’ve got to put the telly on to go to sleep, because I know my anxiety is going to be worse”. “I can’t have any quiet because if I’m quiet, it’s going to get worse”. What they’re actually doing is telling their brain to make them anxious.

And if you do it every day and you tell yourself that over and over and over again you’re going to make that a habit.  You’re going to make that into a reality. But like all things in life that you practice, If you practice practice having anxiety at night or in the morning when you wake up, you’re going to have it.

The solution to anxiety at night

So what we really need to do instead is actually start to talk to yourself, so that you’re getting the results that you want instead. Which is, you want to have a nice relaxed night. You want to feel good in the morning. Well, in order for that to happen. That’s what you’ve got to start telling yourself, will happen.

Now obviously, that’s not going to happen right away. If you’ve for years been telling yourself that every night you go to bed, you’ve got terrible anxiety but it is a start. That’s what you must start to do, you must start to decondition or recondition your mind. How you talk to you is everything, and it is determining so many results in your life right now.

I hear people on on Facebook and they’ll say stuff like, oh my God every day when I go to bed. I know I won’t be able to go to sleep and to them, it’s quite an innocent statement. To their mind though it is a command. So be very careful what you tell yourself about you, because the things you tell yourself create your future.

So I hope that helps and I hope that gives you that answer that you’re looking forward that if you need any more help. You can either hit me up on here, send me a message.
