Disappointed by counselling or CBT?
Not what was expected? People who go for counselling or CBT often expect something that would give them some strategies that would help them to overcome their anxiety. They often wait a long time for an appointment and leave feeling more frustrated. They’re not alone. Approximately 90% of my clients have been through counselling and CBT and found it didn’t help or in some cases made them feel worse. So if you’re disappointed by counselling or CBT you are not alone.
Why is counselling and CBT not very effective?
The reason is that those therapies focus on the problem rather than the solution.
My approach is to focus on the solution, not the problem. Clients already know what the problem is so we don’t need to analyse that any further, what they really want to know is how to solve it! 80% of my clients report that their anxiety has significantly reduced within 14 days. My therapy doesn’t need to rake up the past, it doesn’t need people to experience the worst parts of their life again or make a diary of every negative thought they have. My therapy gives people the tools to change the things they want to change. With my expertise we can change high-level anxiety in just a few sessions.
